4th Annual “THE BIG SHOW”

TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY ROUND ROCK CAMPUS

DEADLINE FOR ONLINE SUBMISSION: Friday, May 19th, 5 pm

Round Rock Arts, whose purpose is to encourage, support and enhance current and new Arts and Cultural activities, is now accepting two dimensional (2D & 3D) artwork submissions for Photography, Watercolor, Acrylic, Pastel, Oil, Encaustic and Mixed Media for the Big Show. Artists under the age of 18 may submit work with permission from parent or guardian.

Entries must be original works of art, entirely the work of the entrant. Entries must be a minimum of 24” x 24” for the actual size of the art piece (not including matting and framing) and a maximum size no larger than 6’ x 6’ for the actual size of the art and the framing all together. There is no “theme” for this exhibit. We are looking for LARGE works of art.

All entries must be framed and have a professional appearance. Artwork must be ready for hanging with wire (no saw tooth hangers) and protected under either glass or plexiglass with the exception of water media, oils, encaustics used on canvas or sealed clayboard. Unframed, stretched canvas (fully-wrapped canvas only) will be accepted if the sides are painted and no staples are visible. Canvas or other cradle substrates must be a minimum depth of 1” (no ¾” canvas or blocks will be accepted.) Look at the call for art page for two videos demonstrating our preferred framing methods.

Artwork which is sold from this exhibit (up to 30 days after the closing of the exhibit as a result of having been exhibited in this show) shall donate to Round Rock Arts 20% of the sales price. Artists must price their pieces including any applicable sales tax and donation amount.

All artwork must have a label secured on the back (upper left hand corner) stating the name of the piece, artist name and phone number.

Artists may not substitute another work for an accepted work nor withdraw that work once it is accepted. All paintings and photography will be exhibited for the duration of the exhibit.

Round Rock Arts carries no insurance for loss or damage to artwork in the exhibit or in transit, nor assumes liability for the same. However, every precaution will be taken for the safety of the work. Artists should provide their own coverage if desired.

HOW TO SUBMIT

  • Artist may submit up to 3 original works in pdf or jpeg formats online. Please limit size of jpegs to a total size of not more than 1.5 MB per image.
  • Label the jpeg image file with your last name, first name, title of painting and size, i.e., Smith_Jane_Sunflowers in Spring_8x10
  • Artist must complete Artist Information form.
  • A fee of $15 is required for each artwork entry. Payment may be made through PayPal on the Website. When you fill in the form below, you will be forwarded to PayPal for payment. Maximum number of submissions per artist is three. Submission does not guarantee acceptance and all submission fees are non-refundable.
  • Art content must be family friendly, as it will be displayed in a community facility.
  • Artist is responsible for art delivery and pickup at dates specified upon notification of art selection.

Artwork may be two or three-dimensional. All artworks are welcome except crafts, large scale installations and video projected art due to limited exhibit space and nature of exhibit. RRA carries no insurance for loss or damage to artwork in the exhibit or in transit, nor assumes liability for the same. However, every precaution will be taken for the safety of the work. Artist should provide their own coverage if desired.

Artist must agree to display during the entire exhibit. No work may be taken down early due to sale(s). If a work is sold during the exhibit time period, the art shall remain in the exhibit until official take down, Friday, August 25, 2017.  Any artist who removes work before the official take down date will automatically be disqualified from entering future Round Rock Arts exhibits.  Customers may pick up sold pieces at the time of take down.  Art work that is not picked up on the scheduled take down date without prior arrangements will be donated to charity.

DELIVERY OF ARTWORK

Deliver items on Friday, June 9th between 8 am – 10 am, to Texas State University Higher Education Center, 1555 University Blvd, Round Rock, 78665, 4th floor. Volunteers will be available to assist you. You may pull up in front of the Avery Building (circle drive) to unload artwork.

Please note that initial acceptance of submission does not guarantee acceptance in the exhibition.  The artwork may be declined at the committee’s discretion.

CALENDAR OF EVENTS:

05/19/17 by 5 pm                        Deadline for submissions. No late entries will be considered.

05/26/17                                        Acceptance/Non-Acceptance artwork will be announced via email.

06/09/17 (8 am – 10 am)         Accepted artwork will be received at Texas State University, 1555 University Blvd., Round Rock, Texas (4th floor). (Late arrivals of artwork will not be accepted.)

06/23/17 (6 pm – 7:30 pm)     Opening Artist Reception at Texas State University, 4th floor (Light refreshments will be served and awards will be announced).

08/25/17 (8 am – 10 am)         Artists to pick up art at Texas State University, 4th floor.
