Round Rock Chalk Walk is Round Rock Arts version of an Italian street painting festival. Artists are free to create, with chalk pastels, a picture on the pavement. Drawings are created in full view of the public, who are encouraged to interact with the artists as thheir amazing talents to create beautiful “murals” before their audience’s eyes. The fact that the illustrations disappear at the end of the day makes their beauty even more appealing.
But Chalk Walk is more than lovely chalk designs. There are two music and performing stages, one focused on adults and the other on children and youth. Entertainment include free theatrical and musical performances.
And, all of this is FREE, including parking!!!
Events start about 1:00 on Friday and ramps up in the evening with the BBQ and Blues festival. Chalk artists are welcome to start plying their art on Friday. Most of the events, though, are on Saturday, starting out at 10:00 am and concluding at 6:00 with the live auction of selected chalk walk pieces placed on Ampersand boards. Music, children’s activities, art created by local artists, wonderful food booths abound!
Chalk walk has been moved to Centennial Plaza, a large plaza where all art, booths, and performances are within easy walking distance. There are two parking garages in the area as well, and plenty of on-street parking.
