Ernie Wood is a former art and architecture journalist turned artist. A resident of Austin since 1984, he grew up in North Carolina and received his BA in English Literature from Hamilton College in upstate New York, where he was one art course shy of a double major in English and Art. He later did graduate work in architecture at North Carolina State University, where he also studied printmaking. He has covered art and architecture for newspapers in New Jersey and North Carolina, worked as editor of “North Carolina Architect” magazine and as Design Editor of “Southern Living” magazine. In recent years, he has returned to printmaking, studying at Penland School of Craft in North Carolina and at Austin Community College, which has purchased his work for its permanent collection. His prints most recently of been included in juried exhibits in Texas, California, Wyoming and Australia.
