This Pottery hand building workshop will be a one time, four hour class designed to cover different methods of hand building (slab, pinch, coil and slab), and conclude with the completion of one project. The project options for this class will be either a birdhouse, pocket planter, succulent planter or face planter. Students will have the choice between red or white clay, and be provided many different texturing options including wooden roller tools, texture mats and fresh flowers to press. Proper joining techniques, handling and drying procedures, and greenware decoration options will also be covered.
I will be offering underglazes for students to color their work for the bisque fire. Bisque fire will be included in the workshop price. I will make the bisqued student work available for pickup one week after the class.
If a glaze is desired, I recommend that the student take his/her piece to Ceramic Lodge (in Round Rock) to glaze fire it.
