Printmaking 1: Linocut

A relief printing process (carving into the surface) and a variant of woodcut. Learn how to prepare your linoleum, draw, carve, and print your image using this very expressive process. Create single or multiple prints from your block for fine art, greeting cards and more! Plus, leave with your printing block! If you like printmaking or are curious about the medium, this class is for you.

Cost: $125 paid through advanced registration + $20 materials use fee payable at the class
Classes meet: October 17. Two other optional courses follow this course.
Downtowner Art Gallery, 231 E. Main Street, Ste 160
The following will be provided as part of the materials use fee:
- Carbon Paper
- Linoleum blocks
- Set of wood carving gouges or tools
- Printing Ink
- Block printing paper
Students should bring the following:
- Drawing paper
- Sketching pencils
- Rubber or non-slip mat (optional – placemat or shelf-liner works)
- Large spoon (wood preferred)
About the instructor:
Ivette has a background in fine art with a concentration in printmaking. She went on to study fashion design and then received her international certification in makeup design and special effects. For ten years Ivette worked as a fashion and makeup stylist in New York City before moving to Austin, Texas with her family in 2014. In 2017 Ivette decided to return to her creative roots and pursue art full-time. She has shown her work in several galleries in the Austin area, teaches classes and workshops at various locations and also serves on the Round Rock Arts Board.
