Cancelled- Take the Plunge: Learn to Paint with Watercolor
This is a beginner’s class offered during four consecutive Wednesdays. We will learn about the paints, brushes, and paper. You will also be introduced to various painting techniques. We will touch on as many components as there is time, such as value, composition, and the language of design. We will start out slow and build each week to experience a clearer and more fun path to painting. There is fee small fee for class supplies that will be used during the first few classes until you decide which paper and brushes you like.

Registration closes April 13, 12:03 am
Class fee: $150 paid by the registration deadline plus $5.00 class fee paid directly to the teacher on the first day of class.
For an additional optional fee of $15.00, I will supply paints, brushes, Arches paper, mounting board, and tape.Class audience: Adults aged 18+

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING:
Please bring sketch paper, Arches watercolor paper (11 x14 is a good choice or larger sheets cut into this size)
Several #2 pencils
Additional sketching paper
Several photos of your chosen subject
A set of watercolor paints: Recommend Winsor and Newton Professional grade. Available at Michaels, and Jerry’s Artarama. Also consider Daniel Smith.
Color palette: alzarin crimson, ultramarine blue, burnt sienna, hansa yellow or cadmium yellow, cadmium orange or orange lake, cadmium red, sap green, Chinese white.
Watercolor brushes- we will discuss at first class- they have a good selection of starter brushes at Hobby Lobby – avoid the cheap bristle type
Masking fluid (optional)
Mounting board (Foam board works- $1 at Dollar General)
Water containers x 2 ( lg cottage cheese or sour cream container works well)
Masking tape or blue or green painting tape (hardware store 1-2″ wide)
You may want to bring a snack and fluids and a sweater for comfort. Star Coffee is a few doors down.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Jennifer Polnaszek came to Texas from rural Wisconsin where she worked in the medical profession as both a physician assistant and a registered nurse. She studied art at the University of New Mexico and University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire, and has continued her studies at the Southwest School of Art and the Coppini Academy of Fine Arts.
Polnaszek works in oil, watercolor, graphite, and printmaking. Particularly drawn to the human form and in documenting the human experience through her work, she is influenced by both her love of biological science and anthropology.
In addition to participating in numerous exhibitions in the Austin-San Antonio area, Polnaszek has received awards for oil painting at the Southwest School of Art and at the Round Rock Arts Imagine and BIG exhibitions at Texas State University -Round Rock. She has received awards for watercolor at the Coppini Academy of Fine Arts, TWS, and Waterloo Watercolor Society. She has been featured in the publication SPLASH 15. She has shown work at the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, Texas Watercolor Society, International Watermedia Exhibit – Houston, Texas State University-Round Rock and Waterloo Watercolor Group juried exhibitions, and at the Georgetown Arts Center.
