Thanks for considering volunteering for Round Rock Arts! There are various ways to be engaged. The primary choices are serving as a docent at The Downtowner Gallery, assisting at our special events, serving on our board, and serving on committees. Docent at the Downtowner Gallery

Do you have a friendly smile and wish to welcome visitors in the gallery? Would you like to learn more about the visual art community in Round Rock? If so, we welcome you!

In addition to welcoming visitors, you can paint or draw while on shift if you are an artist, use a skill you have to help a committee or the two paid RRA staff members, or assist in a workshop if it is needed.

The gallery is open Wednesday-Saturday 12-6 with additional hours on Friday and Saturday night at 6-8. Shifts are two hours long.

Volunteers are trained at the start of their shift. One of the staff members or a board member will train you. If the spot you’d like is filled, if you are available 4-6 daily and 6-8 on Friday and Saturday, these are our primary needs.

Serving on the Board of Directors

As of August 2019, there is a need for a Secretary, a Treasurer’s Assistant, and a General Board member. The terms for for a partial year, ending March 31, 2019. New elections for the board occur in mid-March for the April 1-March 31  for the new administrative and fiscal year starting April 1.

Meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of the month, 6:30-8:00. We usually end on time.

This person performs the responsibilities generally associated with a non-profit board: taking minutes and providing the minutes to the members before the next meeting. On occasion, there is an Executive Board meeting on the 1st Thursday of the month, 5:30-7:00 (or earlier).

Treasurer’s Assistant:
This is a board position. Assist with inputting data into the Quickbooks online system. Works closely with the treasurer. Estimated time a month in addition to board meetings: 2-3 hours. We provide training for Quickbooks online. There is no requirement to attend an Executive Board meeting.

General Board member:
Curious to be engaged in a leadership position for the organization but not sure where to start? Consider serving as a general board member. There is no requirement to attend an Executive Board meeting.

Serving on a Committee

Want to get into the nitty gritty of the organization and help plan events, guide the work of the three galleries, develop and guide the implementation of fundraising activities, help manage a membership program which should begin by the end of 2019? Let us know! The greatest need right now: Chair of the Gallery Committee as the existing Chair will resign in late December to pursue some other activities.
