Meet Our Volunteer Curator for the Downtowner Gallery

Aman is aesthetically curious and driven by passion for all art in all its forms. She relishes the opportunity to inspire people to step out of the ordinary into the extraordinary world of art, think in a non-literal non-linear way, and be immersed in an idea or an aesthetic. To her, what is fascinating about art is not only the thoughtful explorations of color, line, materiality, but also the story behind it and the insight it provides into an artist’s mind.
After earning her Master of Arts in Museum Studies, Aman worked as an Exhibition consultant on several national and international exhibitions at some of the most prestigious Museums in India. Thereafter, she moved to Tokyo, Japan, where she taught Art History, Asian Art, and Exhibition Design at the Temple University Japan Campus. Her curatorial style is an amalgam of her museum experience and her teaching philosophy. It is about making connections, creating emphasis where necessary and allowing for multiple points of view. It is about casting a spotlight to that which would not have otherwise come to attention, in a way that makes for a richer experience. It is about weaving a vibrant tapestry out of multicolored threads against which each single strand has a chance to shine.
Now a resident of Round Rock, her collaboration with Round Rock Arts has been instinctive and associative. Besides providing an opportunity to meet so many interesting people and engaging with artists, it allows for exchange of creative synergies which builds a sense of community around shared interests. Moreover, thoughtful and creative endeavors from local artists bring a deeper authenticity and a sense of soul to what Round Rock Arts does. Aman strongly believes that nothing moves us the way art does.
